“Silver Age” – Course in Russian Literature and History
The beginning of the 20th century is next to one of the most interesting and breathtaking periods in Russian history – it was the time of 3 revolutions, World War I and simultaneous bloom of Russian culture and art that underwent extreme and unbelievable changes (from the refined symbolism to the striking futurism) and absorbed all the distinctive features of the rapidly changing Russia of those times.
Only two or three decades of the Silver Age gave birth to such great and world-famous people as K. Malevich,
V. Mayakovski, A. Block, P. Filonov, S. Ajzenshtejn, M. Shagal, V. Kandinsky, S. Prokofjev, etc. Creating genius pieces of art and music in the period of democracy conceiving and terror reigning concurrently, they were building up the image of new Russia.
For whose who are not indifferent to art, literature and history, and who is willing to get the deeper understanding of that ambiguous period in the life of Russia and the whole Europe we offer a unique Course in Russian Literature and History - “Silver Age”.
The course emphasizes on such trends of art and literature as modernism and avant-garde. You will get acquainted with Russian way of life on the eve of great changes, analyze different styles and trends in poetry and art thus penetrating in the Russian way of life.
