If you’ve already managed to fall in love with Russia or perhaps you want to glance at Russia for the first time, if you are attracted by its vast expanses and diversity and drawn by the enigmatic image of St.-Petersburg - city of literary geniuses – Dostoevsky, Pushkin and Gogol - that is the information you need!!!
For all those interested in Russian Literature Derzhavin Institute presents absolutely new and unique course “Literary Heritage of St.-Petersburg”
The course combines standard Russian language group classes (with emphasis on grammar and oral practice) and a series of lessons devoted to creative work of great Russian poets and writers who lived in the mysterious St.-Petersburg (world-renowned Dostoevsky and Pushkin, poets-modernists Block, Akhmatova or I.Brodskii upon your choice) .
Classes in Russian Studies will help the students to penetrate into historic epoch and gain in-depth understanding of problems the writers were pondering over. With the experienced teachers you will discuss and analyze particular features of authors’ style and feel the overwhelming charm of poems in the original.
Besides the classes the programme covers visits to museum-flats – enigmatic and captivating places where great authors created their magnificent pieces of literature. You will have a chance to walk the same streets, squares and embankments Dostoevsky and Pushkin once walked, with your own eyes you’ll see the settings described with such a talent in their literary works.
In addition students can visit one-of-the-kind performance “Funny man’s dream” - Dostoevsky’s story staged in on of the St.-Petersburg garrets. We’ll also provide you with theater billboards and help to book the tickets to the plays, ballets or operas (most attracting for students are “Eugene Onegin” and “The Dame of Spades”)
Thus this programme aims at learning Russian language and Russian literature through in-depth penetration into Russian culture.
